I said I wouldn't, but I did. Plus, that's haute.

A while back---July, maybe? June? I bought a fab purple Rebecca Minkoff Morning After Mini in Deep Purple. It's a lovely bag, but today is the first day I've carried it. Why the wait? Right after buying it, I realized there were hooks for a strap. I went back to the store to inquire about the strap, and I was told it had to be purchased seperately from the website. Seriously? So I order it the next day, and I tell myself when it arrives I'll begin carrying the bag. Yeah. I'm still waiting on that. Cory from Rebecca Minkoff sent me a polite email about a month ago apologizing and asking if I still wanted the strap, which I thought was nice, but it brings a good deal of attention to the fact that I still haven't received it after nearly four months.

I just looked it up. The original post, from June 6, is here. It looks like I must have bought it June 8.

Anyway, be forewarned. Rebecca Minkoff bags are not cheap, but if you want the leather strap, you're going to have the shell out another $35 and wait up to four months. Maybe I should have just gone with a Haute Metal Handbag.

Designed by Wheeling, WV native (currently living in Washington, DC) Jillian Joseph, Haute Metal gives you the underground/emerging designer feel of the Minkoff, but you know girlfriend's not going to skimp on the details.

I love the woven handles of this bag!

Joseph has been featured in Daily Candy, Atlanta, and hopefully, I'll get a chance to interview her soon!

Hard Core Rock & Roll Shoes

I keep seeing various people with studded booties, and I can't help but lust after them. I'm glad that I went with the booties I did, more of an elegant investment, but something about the black booties with the pyramid studs makes me feel that familiar pull in my gut.

Rachel Zoe? Anyone?

Does anyone watch the Rachel Zoe Project on Bravo? I watched it yesterday (instead of organizing my clothes/making Wilson happy), and I have to say, I actually started to enjoy it. The first time I watched, I found Zoe so completely annoying that I could barely sit through the hour. After watching a couple more episodes, however, I may be hooked. And, let's face it, lady does know how to work a look. (One look, that is...)

Fall/Winter 08-09 Ads

One of the ad campaigns that I'm psychotically obsessed with is the Chanel F/W 08-09 featuring Claudia Schiffer. Like, psychotically I want to get my hair cut and wear black eyeliner every day obsessed.

How can I emulate this with what I have and NOT! spending any money...

Gotta Get it While You Can

I kind of feel like yesterday was some kind of drug-fueled binge madness. No, I did not, nor do I actually take drugs, but I'm definitely feeling what I imagine would be a massive post-high come down/hang-over.

It hit me somewhere between the Frosty and the pedicure.

I'm resolving that I now have all of the clothes that I will ever need, and if I purchase anything, it will be a trendy accessory to update a look. Yes, I have made resolutions like this in the past, but I'm ever the optimist, and I like resolving.

I've been really inspired by wardrobe_remix posters on Flickr. Inspired more so by the idea of trying to put items already in your closet together in new and interesting ways. It was much easier to sort through when bits and bobbins posted her picks of the week; so it goes. I know if I had a beautiful little baby I probably wouldn't have the energy for that either.

We'll see how it goes.

Ladylike accessories

I think it's funny how the department stores (guided by?) are picking random MUST HAVES! for fall. On the Anthropologie website, they listed ladylike accessories, and while I hate to be sheeplike, nodding yes, yes...ladylike accessories...I have to admit, I love them for fall. Not necessarily this year more than any other, but for fall I love the idea of jewel-toned pencil skirts and sweaters with a brooch and maryjanes--too much? Maybe just this handbag then.

Lanvin on sale at barneys.com.

The Beautiful and the Damned

Yeah, I don't know either. The beautiful I understand, maybe the damned because I'm not making g's.

Boston has been really beautiful the last couple of days. I always say spring and fall in Boston remind me of why I love it. It's been around 60-65° and making me giddy with thoughts of walks through sun-dappled trees and outdoor cafes with warm latté. I was in such a mindset last Saturday, when I decided to throw caution to the wind and go shopping. I only stopped in two places really, but that was enough. The first was Anthropologie where I got some lovely, comfortable work clothes.

(Sorry for the image quality, Anthropologie.com)

The other store I stopped in? Optical Shop of Aspen where I found the Chanel Wayfarers I've been lusting after. I don't know if they look good or not, but I like them, and that's all that matters? When I told Wilson that I got new glasses, he asked me if they were sexy. I kind of laughed and showed him my RayBans. I'll let you know later if he finds them sexy, and I'll post pics so you can decide for yourself.

I was intent on posting an outfit last night, but when I got home I fell into my usual routine of getting into my pajamas straight away. Outfit posts to come this week though!

Also coming up this week? One of my favorite private sale communities, Gilt, is having a Marc by Marc Jacobs sale on Wednesday. It's invite only, so if you're interested, please let me know. If they had this dress, I would be happy forever and ever...
Or maybe this for work?

I'm not holding my breath that they'll have these or even newer items, but I'm super excited to see the offerings nonetheless.

I'm also super excited for Miss Laurel who has been getting scouted in San Francisco! I can't even imagine that--possibly because I'm about a foot too short for the modeling industry. Anyway, I wanted to send some good luck vibes out to her. If you haven't seen her blog, check it out!

Boston Fashion Week

No, really. That's what they're calling it.

I accidentally stumbled upon a Boston Fashion Week event last night at the Macy's in Downtown Crossing. Sorry, I didn't remember my camera. The details?

FASHIONISTAS presented by stuff @ night

Macy’s Downtown Crossing, Boston

Catch a special fashion presentation featuring fall favorites from Miss Sixty, BCBGMaxAzria, French Connection, kensie and more. Style tips from stuff @ night Style Editor Erica Corsano. Mini Makeovers from MAC Cosmetics. Complimentary cocktails and appetizers.

I didn't really pay any attention as I was just there to check out some Michael by Michael Kors stuff as I've been liking his work lately. I did not see anything of note. I did find a watch I liked, but I couldn't get a link taken out that night, so I decided to go back for it later. I don't know if I will. I didn't try any of the food or cocktails either.

Sorry to be a gloomy Gus. Hopefully if I get everything unpacked and organized in the apartment, I'll treat myself to a little shopping. Yes, I've lived there a month, and I still haven't unpacked.

2008: The Year of the Boot

Well, for me anyway. Growing up in Wyoming, the only requirement for a boot was "Will it keep my feet warm in three feet of snow as I run from one heated form of shelter to another?" Living in LA, boots don't even cross my mind. It wasn't until I spent time in Boston that I considered the boot as a stylish accessory. So this year is my boot year. I know, I'm a little behind the curve.

Funny, though, that Anthropologie just sent me this accessory catalog FULL of boots!! So I need help. Keep in mind I am a little girl with little feet, so I don't want to look like a kid playing dress-up. OK, let the voting begin!

A) I love the feminine scallop on this one.

B) EEK! They're purple!

C) I can actually see these on my feet.

D) stands for "Do I Dare go that high?"

Happy Early Birthday To Me!

Okay, so my birthday is a month away. But it's the dreaded quarter of a century birthday. I know I'm not going to celebrate it with other people, so why not splurge on myself?! I've never owned a piece of "nice jewelry" before since I'm not blessed with well-off parents or generous lovers, but I found this ring and I knew I had to have it on my finger. So, I just bought it. Happy Birthday, Stephanie!

Swarovski Glacier Ring in Smokey Topaz - $185.00

So beautiful and blingy. I'm sure I'll post more splurges in the next couple of weeks.

Ferocia Coutura Saves the Day!

I am super excited and happy for Project Runway winner Christian Siriano. The "design prodigy" (deemed by mentor Tim Gunn) just had his first runway show at NY Fashion week, and it is, in a word, fierce. One of the most notable elements was the collection's overall cohesiveness in shape, texture, and color. Siriano's use of billowing gray chiffon in his pantsuits is heavenly, but I found myself more drawn to his dresses.

A Tale of Two Marcs + 101!

I've just started looking at some of the Spring 2009 runway looks from NY Fashion week. Of course the first designer I gravitate toward is Marc Jacobs. After seeing both his Marc Jacobs Collection (shown first) and Marc by Marc (shown second), I am not sure if I have a definitive opinion. Here are some looks from both (via New York Magazine online).
I think for the most part I like the shapes and ideas presented in Jacobs 100 plus offerings. If I don't look chubby, I may consider coupling a blazer with loose shorts this spring. Having the exact opposite of model proportions can make trends tricky however. Bright blue was seen in both collections, which makes me think that it'll be one of the big colors for spring. I especially like the MbM dress, but mostly because that cut is flattering on me.

Have you been looking at any of the Spring 2009 runway shows?

Also, I nearly forgot to mention, this marks the 101st post! Hooray! Thanks for reading thus far--more updates and fabulosity to come!

Funny in an Alanis Morrisette Ironic Way

For how much I buy, it's been about 8 years since I've bought new eyeglasses. I think this is something that I am definitely going to get this year. What kind of frames do you think? I've been leaning towards Ray Bans a la Punky B.
Or maybe a little Chanel? Any thoughts?
