Investment Pieces

Sometimes I do (really) considering investing in things like a retirement savings plan. Most of the time, however, I like to invest in things a little more tactile.

Is there any fashion item that you would invest in?

OTOH

Speaking of SUPERMODELS and SUPER DESIGNERS, I really liked the YSL ads featuring Naomi Campbell. I can't say why I favored this over the Prada ads per se, but they definitely have something the Prada ads didn't. Is it just me?

See? It says "Prado"

When I was younger and dreamed of luxury goods, there was one named that stood out above the rest--Prada. I can't help feeling about Prada now as I did the first time I realized that my mother was wrong about something. Case in point, F/W 08-09 ad campaign. I just don't get it.
I think there beautiful elements to the image, and I'm all about using Linda Evangelista (who's enjoying a bit of a resurgence in popularity now, no?), but not only is this styling making her look OLD, it makes Prada's line this season appear to be undoubtly matronly.

I just think she looks like a Spanish nun. Thoughts?

No More Pencils, No More Books

Now that I'm finally done with grad school, I have some time for the pressing matters at hand, namely, September issues of magazines. I started with the September Vogue last night. Some of the adverts were divine. I'm thinking of buying one of those printer/scanner/copier jobs since they're reasonable now (I think), so if I do, I will try to make some scans. I'm not sure how to show these advertisements otherwise.
While I perused, Wilson watched some telenovela, stealing glances as me every once in a while. I'm sure he thought that I was crazy as I waded my way through 400 pages of ads until I got to the editor's letter and the first short article. I still glanced at every page though.

How do you read magazines? Front to back? Back to front? Do you check the table of contents and go directly to those sections and features of interest?

Urban Inbox

I get a ton of marketing e-mails. I'm ok with that. Usually I can ignore them easily. Sometimes, I'm given pause, however. This morning I received one from Urban Outfitters with a lovely tank top. Of course, I have no reason to buy it, but I think the bodice is lovely.

Never meant to be...(sniffle)

I've been trying for months to make you mine, but I've fallen for your tricks for the last time. Like a dream you were available on Barneys.com in my size, and yet, when I received the pair in the mail, there were two left shoes. That's right. The butter softness known only to the left foot. I'm getting a refund and a $30, but I feel like stomping my feet like a toddler, pouting and saying, but I don't want a $30 gift card, I want yellow ballet flats! .

Haute Look sale

Joie Shoes are now on sale at HauteLook! Sure, it'll take you a month and a half to get them--but will you be needing boots before then?Again, sorry for the lack of posts. I'm getting everything set up at the new apartment (including internet). Pics of the new place and outfits TK.

Appreciation Friday

I just want to say I'm grateful for shimmer eyeshadow, because those of us who never truly got over glitter eyeshadow in high school were kind of wondering what to do with ourselves.

Revlon has a new product called
Diamond Lust and it makes your eyes look like this:

I got the champagne color for my wedding. Hehehehehe!

If I had a million dollars...

Sorry for the lack of entries. One and a half more weeks of class, and then I'll be done forever! Woohoo! And I can get back to important things, like, um... TV! And blogs!

The Gilt Group sale today is Rachel Roy. Oh Rachel Roy, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways. If I were to hit the lotto or something, I would immediate buy this dress.
