A Curious Comment

I received an interesting comment on an older post:

Why did the Americans are so obsessed with fashion as the world falls padazos?

ShopBop and Marc by Marc Jacobs Handbags Give Away Winner

First, let me apologize for the dearth of posts. My day job has been incredibly busy. Enough excuses though--on to the winner!

While Kathy saying that I look like Miss Marc gave me a chuckle, Amber and I immediately had a favorite.

Not only did Amber and I crack up about your albino alligator story, MISS SARA ZUCKER, but we also thought that this bag would be a great buy. (Um, they a leopard print one now too that makes me wish I could have won the $100 gift card!)

Thanks so much to ShopBop and Marc Jacobs Handbags for sponsoring the giveaway. I will be seeing you both very soon, I'm sure...drools... leopard.

Oh, and of course, congratulations Sara! More info to come via email!!

S'Up Marc Jacobs Hanbags and ShopBop Giveaway!

marc jacobs handbags

Holla at ya girl. Who has your back? Or, um, is holding your stuff? Maybe you'd prefer to carry your stuff in a nice Marc Jacobs handbag? Hmmm??! Today, we're (Amber is voting in on this one) giving out a $100 Shopbop.com instant gift card to one lucky, creative commenter who tells us which of the Marc Jacobs handbags from Shopbop.com is his/her favorite, and why. The most inventive comment wins, so be sure to let your one-of-a-kind style shine. Even tell us where you would wear your handbag, and what you would wear it with.

History of Mark Jacobs Handbags

Marc Jacobs, the renowned designer, has received many honors in the competitive fashion world, such as "The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent," in 1987, making him the youngest designer ever to receive the distinction.

His designs are always unique, daring and inspirational. His creative vision currently ranges from menswear to, of course, handbags. Marc Jacobs handbags are unique works of art, both stylish yet functional, ranging from the evening clutch to oversized tote bags. Even his more classic designs are distinguished for their outstanding craftsmanship and well-crafted materials. PLUS, he's freaking hot. Did you see him in the Nars anniversary pic? Gah, I die.

They are the kind of bags that you want to rub your face on a little bit. You've certainly seen enough of them on here to know that I love them a little bit and do silly things like blow my entire income tax refund even though I ought to save that money on them. I've been carrying the Hillier Hobo for-ever, so when ShopBop gave me the chance to offer this to you, you know I was down.

What would you wear with your pick from Marc Jacobs handbags?

From traditional black to vibrant, colorful designs, there are Marc Jacobs handbags suited for any style and occasion. But what really matters is which of these handbags you prefer; with so many choices, it's a tough decision. If you win this giveaway, you'll receive a $100 Shopbop.com instant gift card so you can get started on shopping for your new piece of art immediately. Just tell us which of the Marc Jacobs handbags you absolutely can't live without, and why. The most creative comment will win, so be daring like Marc Jacobs himself and show off your style!

I'm so excited for someone to win this. While not as dope as a free handbag, a $100 instant gift card makes these bags an investment worth making (bull, bear, economy, money market, blah).

Alexander Wang on Gilt!

Alexander Wang is making his debut on Gilt.com today, but I have to say, the prices are still pretty expensive. Maybe it has to do with my newfound cheapness, but I'm not paying $80 for a pair of cut off sweatpants even if they do look incredibly chic (somehow). Sale is going quickly. If you aren't a member, email me or comment for an invite. If you want something from this sale, better hurry!

Sorry for the lack of pics. I blame this PC. Yeah, you heard me.

Damn these average-sized feet!

Ok, I actually am very happy with the size of my feet, but here are another pair of boots that I didn't buy today at Second Time Around in Needham. Apparently Needham is the place to go for consignment shops!

SOBS! Why?! Why?! What a world; what a world!?

I saw these at the Closet Exchange in Needham today but they weren't. in. my. size.

(Frye Jane Stitch in Redwood, retail price $298)

EDIT: Interesting search results?

I'm not really sure why Zappos is $4 more.

Yohji Yamamoto Sale on Gilt!

Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I die.

Yohji Yamamoto Sale on Gilt

Marketing Push!

Anyone else notice the Ralph Lauren Blue Label marketing effort today? Emails from both Nylon (um, Nylon and Ralph Lauren?) and Who What Wear--I guess I'm talking about it, too. Well done Ralph Lauren PR. I will not, however, be buying a $165 polo shirt, even if it does have a leather patch.

Seen something similar?

I love these Elizabeth and James loafers, but $299? Cannot do right now. I'm hoping I can find something similar, but I'm not sure where to look. I don't want something to look too...mom like. Any ideas?

I'd like a new pair of flats for fall. And a pair of boots. And a pair of heels. And a pair of high top sneakers. Hmm, maybe this is an addiction like my mom says and I should just get off the internet.

2nd Who What Wear

I'd forgotten to post this one, too, just because this movie was SCARY. Like to the point where this post makes me feel funny. Those are pretty cool sunglasses though.

Who What Wear Results in Insatiable Lusting

Do you subscribe to Who What Wear Daily? I do. Sometimes I click through it pretty quickly, but today...drools...I'm making plans to go after work and buy the T-shirt and lipstick. Seriously. I have $26, and I need these things! Ok, I don't really. Maybe I won't go...
The item that made me want to post the most though are those Nine West boots. La-la-love you! Why on earth would Nine West boots be $140 though? Maybe $50 really IS the new cheap.
EDIT: Don't see the boots in black ANYWHERE, so even if they weren't $140 I wouldn't be getting them. You may like the green or brown. Sizes extremely limited.

S'up Laurel

I love seeing models I recognize from somewhere (S'up Allie)--even more so when it's someone I admire. Needless to say I was elated when I saw this post featuring Sunshine & Shadow's lookbook on Refinery 29 featuring Laurel!

H&M Email Marketing--Effective!

I love the last marketing email I got from H&M. Yes, I would like to buy this season's hottest items in black, thanks. Check out the Style Guide here and click to Create Your Own Style (aka, see how much everything you like would cost). I love the look so much, but I hate spending so much money for stuff from H&M. Everytime I go in, everything I pick up is at least $50. Is that the new cheap?

Wednesday, September 23, 2009

I'm sure you know what I mean.

I get about 20 emails a day just from stores. I know I should hit unsubscribe, but I'm afraid I'll miss a BIG SALE or something...something like this.

From a Shop Intuition email trying to sell headbands.

September Madness!

If you're like me, you always feel a little left out of NCAA's March Madness with all those brackets and co-workers with different picks and whatnot. Well, here's a contest I'm interested in. Shop It To Me is having a Battle of the Brands, where designers brands face off against each other. There were a couple of upsets in Round 1, so I'm excited to see how Round 2 plays out.

Here are Week 1 stats:

Winner 1: L.A.M.B, 55% (Alexander Wang, 45%)
Winner 2: BCBG, 64% (Black Halo, 36%)
Winner 3: Rag & Bone, 80% (Phillip Lim, 20%)
Winner 4: Diane Von Furstenberg, 79% (Rebecca Minkoff, 21%)

Cannot believe A. Wang went down, but I'm kind of happy to see Rebecca Minkoff lose because I've been waiting over a year for a leather strap I purchased (when you had to buy them separately with the MAB and MAB mini bags).

I'm curious to see who would move forward in Vince vs. Splendid because both have some great modal cotton separates, but... I'll save my opinion for after--don't want to sway your vote! Elizabeth and James and Alice and Olivia are also a really nice match up, but I think its obvious whom I'm going with.

Weekly contests are entered to win a Marc by Marc accessory--not too shabby. Last week's winner won a key fob, which I think is a nice gift, because sometimes you want a classy key fob, but who wants to spend over $5 for a keychain (even if you call it a fob). Srsly.

So if you want to play, go to Shop It To Me Battle of the Brands Round 2.
  • Must be a Shop It To Me subscriber to win. (Signing up only takes 2 minutes! Just visit www.shopittome.com.)
  • Votes must be in by this Friday, 9/25 at 5 pm PST.

Shoes, Kate Lanphear style.

In case you were wondering what shoes Kate Lanphear wore the day I spotted her.

Christian Louboutin Pigalle 100 studded pumps $995 at Net-A-Porter

I almost bought these the next day at Bloomingdales, but $210...couldn't do it.

Dolce Vita "Trinity" Studded Pumps $210 at Bloomingdales

She was wearing YSL Platform Booties when Tommy of Jak & Jil spotted her.

I. die.

NYFW: Real "Housewives" of NYC

Does anyone else think it's funny that several of these women are neither married nor could be considered a "housewife." Just a thought. Kelly Killoren Bensimon doesn't mind.

NYFW: America's Last Top Model

Actually Dominique Reighard was on Cycle 10, but I saw her, and she was nice enough to let me take a picture.

NYFW: Inside the Tent Style

I loved the volume of this young lady's dress (and I was brave enough to ask for a picture from the front, too!).

NYFW: Pamella Roland

Here are a few of my favorite looks from the Pamella Roland Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

NYFW: TRESemmé Booth and Girl Crush Rachel Bilson

My dad made fun of me for this photo, but I've never claimed to be a paparazzi. Rachel Bilson was absolutely stunning though in her Diane Von Furstenberg dress that was tailored beautifully. She has the shiniest hair ever. I didn't get close enough to ask if she actually uses TRESemmé, obviously.

Click for a larger image.

NYFW: A Pair in the Crowd

Saw these girls in the front row at Brian Reyes and then again on the street. I love the cut of that black dress and the bright blue pumps. Sorry I was too shy to stop them for a proper shot.

NYFW: Brian Reyes Crowd

There was a pretty nice crowd at the show! Click for a larger image and see who's sitting next to Elle Magazine's Joe Zee.
