New York Help!

I normally wouldn't do this but I'm kind of desperate.

I'm heading to New York from Jan 18-24. I'm looking for a couch, floor, anywhere that I can crash for those dates. If you know of a place, let me know! Even if you know of a really super super cheap hostel/hotel. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. This is my first time in New York - so if you know of places I ought to visit, drop me a line.

Of course, in return, my place will be available to the person if they're ever in San Francisco. I have an extra full sized bed, a nice hot shower, no roommates, and I'm perfectly situated in downtown San Francisco.

Let me know!

Thanks,

Stephanie

Damn, girl. I wish I could help you out, but I'm in Boston. I was looking into staying at the Jane Hotel, but I don't think it's necessarily cheap. Like $100 a night. Which isn't bad I guess, but not at all 'cheap.'

Good luck!

I highly suggest using the NFT map book for New York for your visit and purchasing the 7-day MTA (subway) card to get around. The MTA card will allow you unlimited access to the subway for 7 days for the price of around $25: http://www.mta.info/mta/fares/nyct.html. The NFT map book can usually be found at most of the big-chain book stores (Barnes and Noble, Borders, etc.) in the travel section. You can reference their site online at: http://notfortourists.com/NewYork.aspx.

As for sights, and things to do I suggest trying to get tickets for Conan O'Brien if possible (free if you can get them) and visiting Top of the Rock at 30 Rock for a great overlook of the city: http://www.topoftherocknyc.com/welcome/default.aspx.

Have fun!
